The Last Letter : A final request from Father

A wise and saintly rich man, sensing his approaching death, called his son to his side and gave him some instructions. “ My son, i shall be leaving you very shortly. My final request you to: 

On the day when i die, and they have washed my body and come to wrap it in the shroud, i want you to put one of my socks on my foot.

Soon after this, the old man die, leaving behind his goods and property, his children and his dependents, family, friends, acquaintances and neighbors attended his funeral. The body had been washed and was almost completely wrapped in the shroud, when the son remembered his father’s wish. Finding one of his old socks, he handed it to the washer of the dead, saying, “ in accordance with my father’s last request, please put this sock on his foot.”  “ that is quite impossible" said the man. “ such a thing is utterly impermissible in Islam. I cannot act against the shariah.”

Despite this valid objection, the son insisted, “ that was my father’s final request, it must certainly be carried out.” the washer of the dead was unmoved. “ if you won’t take my word for it,” he said, “ go and ask the Mufti. He will confirm what i tell you,

that it is not permissible.” holding up the funeral, they consulted the Mufti, preachers and scholars, all of whom declared that this was not permissible in Islam. Just then, an aged friend of the deceased interrupted the debate with these words to the son. “ My boy, your late father entrusted me with a letter which i was to hand over to you after his departure. here, this letter belongs to you.” so saying, he gave him an envelope. 

Taken by surprise, the boy opened the envelope and read out the contents of his father’s letter.  “ my son, all this wealth and property i have left to you. now you see, at the last moment, they won’t even let you give me an old sock to wear. when you yourself come one day to be in my condition they will also refuse to let you keep anything but your shroud. Eight yards of shroud are all you will be able to carry over from this fleeting world into the hereafter. So pull yourself together and be prepared. spend the fortune i have left you, not for the satisfaction of vain desires, but sin ways pleasing to Allah,

that you may achieve honor in both worlds.”

میں دنیا بھر کے مورخین کو سکندر اعظم اور حضرت عمر فاروقؓ کی فتوحات اور کارناموں کے موازنے کی دعوت دیتا ہوں‘ آپ بھی سوچئے الیگزینڈر بادشاہ کا بیٹاتھا ‘ اسے دنیا کے بہترین لوگوں نے گھڑ سواری سکھائی ‘ اسے ارسطو جیسے استادوں کی صحبت ملی تھی اور جب وہ بیس سال کا ہو گیا تو اسے تخت اور تاج پیش کردیا گیا جبکہ اس کے مقابلے میں حضرتعمر فاروقؓ کی سات پشتوں میں کوئی بادشاہ نہیں گزرا تھا‘ آپؓ بھیڑ بکریاں اور اونٹ چراتے چراتے بڑے ہوئے تھے اور آپؓ نے تلوار بازی اور تیر اندازی بھی کسی اکیڈمی سے نہیں سیکھی تھی‘ سکندراعظم نے آرگنائزڈ آرمی کے ساتھ دس برسوں میں 17 لاکھ مربع میل کا علاقہ فتح کیا تھا جبکہ حضرت عمر فاروق ؓ نے دس برسوں میں آرگنائزڈ آرمی کے بغیر 22 لاکھ مربع میل کا علاقہفتح کیا اور اس میں روم اور ایرانکی دو سپر پاورز بھی شامل تھیں‘ آج کے سیٹلائیٹ‘ میزائل اور آبدوزوں کے دور میں بھی دنیا کے کسی حکمران کے پاس اتنی بڑی سلطنت نہیں جو حضرت عمر فاروقؓ نے نہ صرف گھوڑوں کی پیٹھ پر فتح کرائی تھی بلکہ اس کا انتظام و انصرام بھی چلایا تھا‘ الیگزینڈر نے فتوحات کے دوران اپنے بے شمار جرنیل قتل کرائے‘ بے شمار جرنیلوں اور جوانوں نے اس کا ساتھ چھوڑا‘ اس کے خلاف بغاوتیں بھی ہوئیں اور ہندوستان میں اس کی فوج نے آگے بڑھنےسے انکار بھی کر دیا لیکن حضرت عمر فاروقؓ کے کسی ساتھی کو ان کے حکم سے سرتابی کی جرا ¿ت نہ ہوئی‘ وہایسے کمانڈر تھے کہ آپ نے عین میدان جنگ میں عالم اسلام کے سب سے بڑے سپہ سالار حضرت خالد بن ولیدؓ کو معزول کر دیا اور کسی کو یہ حکم ٹالنے کی جرا ¿ت نہ ہوئی‘ آپؓ نے حضرت سعد بن ابی وقاصؓ کو کوفے کی گورنری سے ہٹا دیا‘ آپؓ نے حضرت حارث بن کعبؓ سے گورنری واپس لے لی‘ آپؓ نے حضرت عمرو بن العاصؓ کا مال ضبط کر لیا اور آپؓ نے حمص کے گورنر کو واپس بلا کر اونٹ چرانے پر لگا دیا لیکن کسی کو حکم عدولی کی جرا ¿ت نہ ہوئی۔الیگزینڈر نے 17 لاکھ مربع میل کا علاقہ فتح کیا لیکن دنیا کو کوئی نظام‘ کوئی سسٹم نہ دے سکا جبکہ حضرت عمر فاروقؓ نے دنیا کو ایسے سسٹم دیئے جو آج تک پوری دنیا میں رائج ہیں‘ آپؓ نے نماز فجر میں الصلوٰة خیر من النوم کا اضافہ کرایا‘ آپؓ کے عہد میں نماز تراویح کا باقاعدہ سلسلہ شروع ہوا‘ آپؓ نے شراب نوشی کی سزا مقرر کی‘ سن ہجری کا اجراءکیا‘ جیل کا تصور دیا‘ مو¿ذنوں کی تنخواہیں مقرر کیں‘ مسجدوں میں روشنی کا بندوبست کرایا‘ پولیس کا محکمہ بنایا‘ ایک مکمل عدالتی نظام کی بنیاد رکھی‘ آب پاشی کا نظام قائم کرایا‘ فوجی چھاﺅنیاں بنوائیں اور فوج کا باقاعدہ محکمہ قائم کیا‘ آپؓ نے دنیا میں پہلی بار دودھ پیتے بچوں‘ معذوروں‘ بیواﺅں اور بے آسراﺅں کے وظائف مقرر کئے‘ آپؓ نے دنیا میں پہلی بار حکمرانوں‘ سرکاری عہدیداروں اور والیوں کے اثاثے ڈکلیئر کرنے کا تصور دیا‘ آپؓ نے بے انصافی کرنے والے ججوں کو سزا دینے کا سلسلہ بھی شروع کیا اورآپؓ نے دنیا میں پہلی بار حکمران کلاس کی اکاﺅنٹیبلٹی شروع کی‘ آپؓ راتوں کو تجارتیقافلوں کی چوکیداری کرتے تھے‘ آپؓ فرمایا کرتے تھے جو حکمران عدل کرتے ہیں وہ راتوں کو بے خوف سوتے ہیں‘ آپؓ کا فرمان تھا” قوم کا سردار قوم کا سچا خادم ہوتا ہے“ آپؓ کی مہر پر لکھا تھا ”عمر! نصیحت کےلئے موت ہی کافی ہے“ آپؓ کے دسترخوان پر کبھی دو سالن نہیں رکھے گئے‘ آپؓ زمین پر سر کے نیچے اینٹ رکھ کر سو جاتے تھے‘ آپؓ سفر کے دوران جہاں نیند آ جاتیتھی آپؓ کسی درخت پر چادر تان کر سایہ کرتے تھے اور سو جاتے تھے اور رات کو ننگی زمین پر دراز ہو جاتے تھے‘ آپؓ کے کرتے پر چودہ پیوند تھے اور ان پیوندوں میں ایک سرخ چمڑے کا پیوند بھی تھا‘ آپؓ موٹا کھردار کپڑا پہنتے تھے ‘ آپؓ کو نرم اور باریک کپڑے سے نفرت تھی‘ آپؓ کسی کو جب سرکاری عہدے پر فائز کرتے تھے تو اس کے اثاثوں کا تخمینہ لگوا کر اپنے پاس رکھ لیتے تھے اور اگر سرکاری عہدے کے دوران اس کے اثاثوں میں اضافہ ہو جاتا تو آپؓ اس کی اکاﺅنٹیبلٹی کرتے تھے‘ آپؓ جب کسی کو گورنر بناتے تو اسے نصیحت فرماتے تھے‘ کبھی ترکیگھوڑے پر نہ بیٹھنا‘ باریککپڑے نہ پہننا‘ چھنا ہوا آٹا نہکھانا‘ دربان نہ رکھنا اور کسی فریادی پر دروازہ بند نہ کرنا‘ آپؓ فرماتے تھے ظالم کو معاف کر دینا مظلوموں پر ظلم ہے اور آپؓ کا یہ فقرہ آج انسانی حقوق کے چارٹر کی حیثیت رکھتا ہے” مائیں بچوں کو آزاد پیدا کرتی ہیں تم نے انہیں کب سے غلام بنا لیا ؟ “فرمایا میں اکثر سوچتا ہوں اور حیران ہوتا ہوں” عمرؓ بدل کیسےگیا“ آپؓ اسلامی دنیا کے پہلے خلیفہ تھے جنہیں ” امیر المومنین“ کا خطاب دیا گیا‘ دنیا کے تمام مذاہب کی کوئی نہ کوئی خصوصیت ہے اسلام کی سب سے بڑی خصوصیت عدل ہے اور حضرت عمر فاروقؓ وہ شخصیت ہیں جو اس خصوصیت پر پورا اترتے ہیں‘ آپؓ کے عدل کی وجہ سے عدل دنیا میں عدل فاروقی ؓ ہوگیا‘ آپ شہادت کے وقت مقروض تھے چنانچہ آپؓ کی وصیت کے مطابق آپ کا واحد مکان بیچ کر آپ کا قرض ادا کر دیا گیا اور آپؓ دنیا کے واحدحکمران تھے جو فرمایا کرتے تھے میرے دور میں اگر فرات کے کنارے کوئی کتا بھی بھوک سے مر گیا تواس کی سزا عمر )حضرت عمر فاروقؓ( کو بھگتنا ہوگی‘ آپؓ کے عدل کی یہ حالت تھی آپؓ کا انتقال ہوا تو آپ کی سلطنت کے دور دراز علاقے کا ایک چرواہا بھاگتا ہوا آیا اور چیخ کر بولا ” لوگو! نسواریات - اگر آپ نسوار چوس ہیں تو یہ مضمون آپ کے لئے نہیں ہے۔

ھمارے اوپر ایک زمانہ ایسا بھی گزرا ہے جب ہم بچے ہوا کرتے تھے اور ایک بہت مشہور کارٹون "پاپائی دی سیلر مین" بہت شوق سے دیکھا کرتے تھے۔پسندیدگی کی  ایک وجہ یہ بھی تھی، کہ وہ طاقت حاصل کرنے کے لئے پالک کھا لیتا اور بس پھر۔۔ اسکا کوئی دشمن اسکے آگے نہ ٹکتا تھا اور وہ انکی خوب دھلائی کیا کرتا تھا۔ ۔انہی دنوں کی بات ہے کہ ہم نے کچھ مزدوری کرنے والے حضرات کو دیکھا کہ جب وہ ادھ موئے ہونے لگتے تھے، تو کافی اندرونی قسم کی جیب سے ایک لفافہ نکالتے اور اس میں سے سبز گھاس کی شکل کی کوئی چیز نکالتے، ہاتھ میں اسے گوندتے، پھر ایک گولی بناتے اور پھر منہ میں رکھ لیتے۔ ہم بہت مدت تک یہی سمجھتے رہے کہ "پاپائی دی سیلر مین" کی طرح یہ بھی طاقت حاصل کرنے کے لئے پالک کی گولی بنا کر منہ میں رکھ لیتے ہیں۔۔۔۔ تصدیق کے لئے پوچھنے پر پتا چلا کہ انہوں نے اسکا نام نسوار رکھا ہوا تھا۔۔ ہم یہی سمجھے کہ ان کی زبان میں شائید پالک کو نسوار کہا جاتا ہے۔۔۔ ۔

اب ہوا کچھ یوں کہ جب گھر میں اماں نے آلو پالک بنائے جو اتفاق سے ہمیں پسند بھی تھے، تو ہم نے باآواز بلند اپنے علمی اضافے کے اعلان کے طور پر فرمایا کہ ۔۔۔۔"آج تو "آلو نسوار" بہت ہی مزے کا ہے" 

یہ سنتے ہی ابا جان کا نوالہ عین انکے منہ کے سامنے جا کر پتھر کا ہو گیا، اور ان کی آنکھیں ایسی ہوگئیں کہ عینک اور آنکھوں میں کوئی فرق دکھائی نہیں دیتا تھا۔۔ اور اماں کا منہ کھلا کا کھلا رہ گیا۔۔ اور آنکھیں انکے پکائے ہوئے "آلو نسوار" پر جم گئیں۔۔۔  ایسا لگ رہا تھا کہ وقت رُک گیا ہو، ہر چیز اپنی جگہ ساکت ہو گئی ہو۔۔۔ اور پھر چند سیکنڈ کے بعد ہی ایسا لگا جیسے کوئی فلم پھنس جانے کے بعد ایک دم تیزی سے فارورڈ ہو گئی ہو۔۔۔ یعنی ہم پر ہمارے والدین نے سوالوں کی بوچھاڑ کر دی، جو کچھ یوں تھے۔۔ 

تمہیں نسوار کا کیسے پتا چلا؟ 

کتنے دوست نسوار استعمال کرتے ہیں اور کونسی قسم کی ہوتی ہے؟ 

تم نہیں کھا تو نہیں لی؟ منہ کھولواور سنگھاؤ؟ ۔وغیرہ وغیرہ وغیرہ۔۔۔۔ 

بہرحال، کافی گھمبیر قسم کی تفتیش کرنے کے بعد انہیں ہماری معصومیت کا انداز ہوہی گیا۔۔۔ مگر ایک بات کا ہمیں بھی پتا چل گیا، کہ۔۔۔۔"پاپائی دی سیلر مین" کونسا "پالک "استعمال کرتا ہے جسکے بعد وہ یوں اپنے دشمنوں کی ٹھکائی لگا دیتا ہے۔۔بہرحال وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ تحقیق ہوتی گئی علمِ نسوار میں مزید اضافہ ہوا، جس میں سے کچھ آپ کی خدمت میں عرض کر رہا ہوں، تاکہ آپ بھی اس سبزی کے فوائد و نقصانات سے واقفیت حاصل کر سکیں۔ ممکن ہے کہ اگر آپ کچھ سائنسدان قسم کی چیز ہیں تو آپ کو تحقیق کے لئے ایک نیا میدان مل جائے۔۔ اور اگر نہیں ہیں تو اسی بہانے بن سکتے ہیں۔ 

آپس کی بات ہے۔۔ اس کی رنگت اسی مواد سے ملتی جلتی ہے جو جانوروں کو چارہ کھلا کرحاصل کی جاتی ہے، اور گاؤں میں نہ صرف کھیتوں کی زرخیزی میں کام آتی تھی ہے، بلکہ گاؤں کی عورتوں اسکی بڑی بڑی ٹکیاں (اوپلے) بنا کر دیواروں پر چپکاتی ہیں اور سوکھنے کے بعد ان کو جلا کر مزید فوائد حاصل کئے جاتے ہیں۔ ہم نے اس رنگت اور فوائد کا موازنہ کرنے کے بعد اندازہ لگایا کہ اس میں کس قدر توانائی ہے، جبھی تو تھکے ماندے لوگ، ایک چھوٹی سی گولی منہ میں رکھی کر بالکل نئے ہنڈا 125 کی طرح بھاگنے دوڑنے لگتے ہیں۔ 

"گواہوں کے بیانات اورسالہاسال کی تفتیش کے بعد یہ بات سامنے آئی ہے کہ یہ آپ کی نس پر ، بلکہ شائید ہر نس پر وار کرتی ہے،لہٰذا نسوار کہلاتی ہے۔" 

دیکھنے میں یہ کچھ یوں لگتی ہے گویا پودینے کی چٹنی کو ُسکھایا گیا ہو اور پھر اسے زنگ لگ گیاہو۔ اسکے ذائقے کے متعلق صرف وہی علماء بتا سکتے ہیں جو اسکا علم رکھتے ہیں۔اگر آپ کو کوئی ایسے صاحب ملیں، جن کا اوپر کا یا پھرنیچے کا مسوڑا سوجا ہوا محسوس ہو، اور اگر وہ ہمارے پٹھان بھائیوں میں سے بھی ہیں تو زیادہ قیاس یہی ہے کہ وہ دراصل نسوار چوس ہیں۔۔ مگر اب یہ قیاس آرائی دوسری اقوام میں بھی جا بجا دیکھنے میں آرہی ہے۔ اسلئے نسوار کے دھوکے میں ہر ایک کو پٹھان مت سمجھ لیجئے گا، مباداء آپ کو پنجابی، پٹھواری (پنجابی کی ایک گھمبیر قسم)، سرائیکی، بلوچی، سندھی وغیرہ میں گالیاں بھی وصول ہو سکتی ہیں۔ اور یقین کریں کہ یہ وہ لمحہ ہے جب آپ کو دوسری زبانوں سےلاعلمی پر شکر گزار ہونا چاہئیے۔۔ 

  

سنا ہے کہ مسوڑہ سُجا کر، نسوار چوس، اس سے جو رس حاصل کرتا ہے اس کے اثرات اتنے دور رس ہوتے ہیں کہ سوکھے سے سوکھا نسوار چوس ، بھی ایک بھاری بھرکم پہلوان کے برابر کام کرنے لگتا ہے۔۔ یہ بھی سننے میں آیا ہے کہ نسوار چوس حضرات روٹیاں بھی ڈھیروں کے حساب سے کھا جاتے ہیں۔ مگر ان کے سوکھے پن کو دیکھتے ہوئے یقین نہیں آتا۔۔ اور اگر نسوار چوس دیکھنے میں پہلوان جیسا لگتا ہو تو۔۔۔۔۔

تواسکا مطلب ہے کہ وہ پیدائشی ایسا ہے یا اپنے کرتوتوں کی وجہ سے  ایسا ہو گیا ہے ورنہ نسوار کے فوائید میں کسی بھی تحقیق سے صحت مند ہونا ثابت نہیں کیا جا سکا۔

نوٹ: یہ علم ہم نے ان علماء سے حاصل کیا ہے جو دراصل اس علم کے ماہر ہیں اور انہی کی تجربات کی روشنی میں ہم نے یہی فیصلہ کیا تھا۔۔کہ ہم اس سے دور ہی اچھےکیونکہ ماہرین کے مطابق یہ دیکھنے میں یہ جس چیز سے ملتی جلتی ہے اورجسے اگر مٹی میں ملا دیا جائے تو زرخیزی میں کافی اضافہ ہو جاتا ہے، اور درخت اورفصلیں خوب پھلتے پھولتے ہیں،صرف اور صرف ایک ہی جانور کے ذریعے پیدا کی جاتی ہے۔یہ وہی جانور ہے جو چاہے جتنا بھی معصوم اور بے گناہ ہو، مگر گاؤں میں اکثر مجرماں کو اسی پر بٹھا کر اور منہ کالا کرکے پورے گاؤں میں پھرایا جاتا ہے۔ ۔۔ اور نسوار کے استعمال کندگان کو کبھی نسوار کی وجہ سے پھلتے پھولتے  تو کبھی نہیں دیکھا البتہ ان کے مسوڑے ہی سوجے نظر آئیں گے...اُمید ہے آپ کو پھلنے پھولنے میں

اور سوجنے میں فرق معلوم ہوگا۔

احتیاطی نوٹ: ہر وہ شخض جس کا مسوڑہ سوجا ہو، ضروری نہیں کہ نسوار کا فین ہو، ہو سکتا ہے وہ طبیب ِدندان زدہ ہو۔ اور اگر وہ پھلا پھولا بھی دکھائی دے تو وہ بہت ممکن ہے کہ وہ باکسر قسم کی شے ہو کیونکہ مسوڑے کے مسائل باکسروں میں اکثر ایک دوسرے کو دئے جانے کا رواج عام پایا جاتا ہے۔۔۔ اور انہی سے ملتی جلتی قسم وہ ہے جس سے بروس لی کا تعلق تھا۔۔۔ مگر اس قسم  میں مسوڑوں کی سجاوٹ کم اور دانت توڑنے کا کا رواج زیادہ ہے، مگر یہ ایک الگ ڈسکشن ہے اسلئے زیادہ سوچنے کی ضرورت نہیں۔

اور ہاں آخری بات تو رہ گئی۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔۔اگر  آپ نسوار چوس ہیں، تو یہ مضمون آپ کے لئے نہیں ہے۔۔۔
