The second today’s top story is from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Islamabad where Justice Qazi Faez Isa has said that heads of the country’s top revenue collection the agency was removed for not succumbing to pressure over a case against his wife Sarina Isa in connection with her offshore properties.

In a reply submitted to the 10-judge bench of the Supreme Court hearing a set of review petitions, Justice Isa recalls that on June 19, 2020, the Supreme Court directed the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) chairman to submit a report to the secretary of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on the off-shore properties.

He says “immediately after the order was announced Ms. Nausheen Javaid Amjad was removed from the position of chairperson FBR to which she had been appointed less than four months earlier” in violation of the law and directives of the Supreme Court in Anita Turab case.

Moreover, the government decided to run the FBR through makeshift arrangements by giving an additional charge of FBR chairman to Mohammad Javed Ghani, Justice Isa says. “Sadly this important position was subjugated for petty self-interest and the institution of FBR destroyed.”

The examination will be done in the semester form from 9th to 12th class.

A 3-year degree is for those students who do not have to take higher education. At the same time, students doing higher education will have to do a 4-year degree. Students doing 4 years degree will be able to do MA in one year.

--- Now students will not have to do MPhil. Rather MA students will now be able to do PHD directly.

Students will be able to do other courses in between. The gross enrollment ratio will be 50 percent by 2035 in higher education. At the same time, under the new education policy, if a student wants to do another course in the middle of a course, then he can take a second course by taking a break for a limited time from the first course.

Many reforms have also been made in higher education. Improvements include graded academic, administrative and financial autonomy etc. Apart from this, e-courses will be started in regional languages. Virtual Labs will be developed. A National Educational Scientific Forum (NETF) will be started. There are 45 thousand colleges in the country.

Uniform rules will be for all government, private, deemed institutions.

According to this rule, new academic session will start soon.
